   The Defender is Flat Ground with a Thick edge for heavier duty  jobs such as:  Shelter building(small limbs of trees), heavy shaping, and possibly, detouring a bear.

    Besides back pack Hunting in slightly remote areas, I am also a Canoe enthusiast and have enjoyed long treks in British Columbia during times of the year when Great winds and or heavy weather changes(such as snowfall) can cause havoc. And on rare occasions, wild animals, such as bear & cougar will present some caution to be taken.

    My goal was to make a knife that was very strong, with an edge that would last, and still be not to heavy.  After all, if a knife is too heavy...or too big....it will not be pleasant to carry on your side (thusly, you will not carry it).  I am so pleased to say..that this knife achieves all of  my goals:

 * Strong, well balance in the hands, durable edge, lightweight, delivering a very good power stroke and carries ever so pleasantly on the your side.
 * Made with D2 - a semi stainless steel -thick edge - with a slightly lower RC hardness, so as the edge is not brittle and can stand up to heavier duty chopping. 

 * Made with Tapered Tang- Intregal-wood & steel in the  front and rear guard - wide belly, for total comfort and Grip Control.

 * Double thong holes, allows leather strap to run continuously through both holes for added grip protection.

 * Unique side cross-draw sheath that rides on body so you will barely feel it on your side.
